Tucked away in the heart of the Jezreel valley in the north of Israel, the Galilee Bedouin Camplodge offers unique accommodation quite unlike anything else you’re ever likely to encounter. Couples looking for an even more exotic private room can stay in the newly refurbished 1937 British train wagon. Down-to-earth budget travelers can also pitch their own camping tent in the grounds, and make use of the kitchen and other facilities that the Galilee Bedouin Camplodge has to offer. The Camplodge, also known as Shevet Ahim (“a tribe of brothers”), is on the outskirts of the Galilean Bedouin village, Hilf Tabash – a little off the usual tourist route, but not too far from Haifa, Nazareth and Zichron Ya’akov, and less than an hour’s drive from the Sea of Galilee. Closer by, there are a number of hiking and biking trails leading from the guesthouse to nearby nature reserves (Alonei Aba and Tzipori Brook), and to the charming, secluded spring of Ein Yivka, surrounded by a pomegranate garden and an old Carmelite mill. A picturesque former Templer village, called Bethlehem of the Galilee, is also very close by and worth visiting.
